Happy Thanksgiving! My holiday was very similar to yours - complete with a day of cooking, a turkey, listening to Christmas music, and simply enjoying the people around me. We even had leftovers on Friday for lunch - which I know y'all did too!


There were 23 people gathered for Thanksgiving here - all of the Americans at k-homes, plus other friends of Tammy & the Filas. We even had 2 Canadians celebrate with us :) We each brought food and had SO MUCH - it was awesome. I made cornbread and gravy - the corn meal is different here and made my bread not turn out like it does at home. But I'm determined to figure it out and make it like my dad makes it- I know it can be done!


Let me show you in pictures some of the highlights of our day:

This is our local turkey that Molly got! Harrison (with his hand inside the turkey) was our resident poultry expert - so he cleaned out the insides. You should have seen what he pulled out! I was helping him hold up the bird so he could get a good look inside. This might have been my favorite part of the day - so interesting. The turkey weighed 11 KG.

One of the portable ovens we had to cook with...notice the rocks holding up the left side. The original oven legs melted off - a lovely production flaw.

Some of our food! You can see my cornbread on the green plate, plus there was corn, mac & cheese, green bean casserole, dressing (not like Daddy's!), apple pie, pecan pie (with Karo syrup from Greenville), and lots of cookies! So good! My favorite was the corn - by far.
